Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

5 stars for taste, fast and efficient service, friendly and helpful staff, value, and location. Located in Orland Park along a mile road of restaurants from one street to another. Minus the major construction and the proximity from my house, this location is awesome! It is surrounded by so many restaurants and shops. Too bad this is the only location in IL. Let's talk comida... this is like a Chipotle style Italian food. It's pretty simple, they only have 3 kinds of foods -- Piada, pasta bowl, salad bowl. For pasta bowl: you get to choose the type of pasta you'd like (whole wheat or traditional), your meat (chicken, meatbowl), pasta sauce (marinara, spicy marinara, alfredo), and your veggies (as many as your heart desires). All this = pasta bowl heaven. So tasty, so fresh, and very filling! Must add: to your pasta bowl- add fresh veggies! I didn't think it would be good but wow, the bruschetta tomatoes, spinach, and olives in my spaghetti was totally AMAZEBALLS! Tip: for lunch, there's a special for $8.79 pick 2 or lunch portion bowl for $6.79. And order one to go, you won't regret it! Get blown away and mangia away!!!

It's definitely Italian, Chipotle-style. Think Italian burritos, pasta bowls, and salad. The presentation was Eh. The food was kind of Eh. The salad dressing on my wrap overpowered everything else in it. The dining area is exactly what you'd expect out of a fast casual line restaurant. Would I go back? Maybe. But with so many other choices around, it's very hard to say. Not bad, not great. Would have rather spent my $7 on a Chipotle burrito. I'd like to see more diversity. When you advertise your place as 'Italian street food', I'm thinking street food. This was not street food. More options would be nice, too. Or maybe the staff could ask if it's my first time here. I had no clue what anything was. I felt really stupid asking what an italio stick was and finding out it was a bread stick. More proactive. More diversity. This place could be so good!!

Italian styled like Chipotle, priced similarly, comparable minimalist dining area/decor. Clean and friendly each of the 3 times we have visited this location. Sizable portions, fresh ingredients, lots of options, good portions. Vegetarian and meat eater friendly. Welcomed kids. Fast service and not crowded (actually pretty bare). Staff not knowledegable regarding any ingredients, combining/substituting options, spice levels on different items-- which is important when dining with kids, diet restrictions and/or allergies. A few times we've had way too spicy sauces/dressings suggested for our tiny kids. Now we ask for them on the side, and staff is usually accommodating. Have ordered wraps, pasta & salads and had all different mixtures/combinations of ingredients. Love the whole wheat pasta option & all the fresh selections. Kids and grownups in our party have always been happy with their meal. Casual & comfortable, resonably priced & fast & always clean & friendly. A few complaints: No nutrition/ingredient info avail on website, request sent via contact form, still unanswered. Much of selections are too spicy for my young kids' palate, esp the risotto balls, which I mistakenly was directed toward as a kid friendly finger food by an employee--way too hot of a punch for small tongues, though I found them tasty with a nice spice kick. For parents with wee ones, note that there is NO diaper changing spot or anything to utilize makeshift in restrooms whatsoever. No booster seats available, either--only a couple of high chairs. Booth seats and chairs that can't get close to table do not easily accommodate small kids. Wish they would attend to these minor areas to accommodate families with little children. Would also love to see a whole wheat/multigrain wrap option and employees or a brochure/web info that can actually tell you what is in the food (sauces, seasonings, desserts, wrap, etc.). I get the theme of the silver metal pizza trays that food is put on to carry from counter to table, but they are big, awkward, difficult to balance and keep items on and even worse to sit multiples at table with. Ditch it right away and you are losing hot food time with another trip across the restaurant back to seating. Love that we are sometimes given coupons at check out... as this is what has kept us coming back definitely!

It's the Chipotle version of Italian food! I've only been here with a Groupon, which is a great deal btw! They've had a Groupon deal a few times now, so might be worth waiting for that to come around when you go here. The restaurant has a clean and modern look to it. There are plenty of seats in the restaurant, and I rarely see the restaurant full. My go-to dish is the shrimp whole-grain pasta with spicy prima rosa sauce. I usually add roasted red peppers, spinach/lettuce, banana peppers, mushrooms, sauteed peppers & onions and roasted garlic. Remember to mix everything up when you get your bowl. Yum! Since the Groupon is for the regular size (which by the way is pretty big) and a drink, it's usually enough for me to split it into two meals. Minus one star for overuse of oil though. I get enough as is from my eating habits. :( Overall, would recommend!

Build-your-own-Italian! Italio is a fast-casual Italian restaurant that is similar in concept to Chipotle and Subway. It's the Italian version of the build-your-own-meal assembly line chain restaurants. You first pick your base: regular or whole-wheat pasta bowl, a salad bowl with romaine or blended greens, or a piada (thin, Italian wrap). You can get either a small or regular-sized pasta or salad bowl. Then you go down the assembly line & choose your protein, veggies, sauces & toppings to add to your base, and it is assembled right in front of you & ready to eat! The meats are grilled chicken, grilled shrimp, grilled sirloin steak, meatball, Italian sausage, and fritte chicken. There is a good variety of fresh veggies, cheeses, & toppings/sauces to customize your order. They have a couple side options such as fried calamari & soup, a kids menu, and a couple dessert items. They also sell a limited variety of beer & wine too. This was my first visit, and I got the regular-sized salad bowl with blended greens, grilled chicken, an assortment of veggies, and shaved-aged parmesan. It was a very big, filling, gemriffic salad. The chicken was nicely grilled/seasoned in a tasty, lemon-herb vinaigrette, the veggies were fresh & the shaved parm was a great topper! I was very pleased with the variety of veggies & quickness of getting your order made within minutes. I have only tried the salad bowl which I give 5 gems, so I can't vouch for the pasta or piada but they both looked gemlicious too & are built in same quick, personalized manner as the salad bowl. This may not be the most authentic Italian food (think Fazoli's), but it's a gemtastic option for a tasty, healthy quick meal with a faux-Italianesque flare!

I find it funny about all the people that complain about the price. You could spend 8 bucks for a processed brown colored sponge "Value" meal. Or, for a buck more you get food that you can actually eat. Outrageous! I came here for the grand opening and I got caught up in all the fanfare. I came back with coupon in tow and I got the Large pasta bowl with a heap of steak and my choice of fresh toppings and sauce. I do not say this often or even on a yearly basis. As I was eating I started comparing the meal to my own cooking. For the rest of the afternoon, I felt like doing the happy dance it was that good. It was an outstanding value and I felt the need to rectify the B.S. that is coming out of these drive-thru diners. Aces to the quality ingredients and homemade taste that goes into this labor intensive establishment! Note: If you want more sauce, ask for it! If you want more dressing, ask for it! if you want anything more ask! You paid for the bowl. What you put in it is all you!

Wow...pretty swful. The food and service reminded me of the food in my dorm in college. Its a truly awful version of noodles and company with a fraction of the choices. I visited on Sunday, June 14th, 2015 for dinner. For the pasta bowls there was onlya choice of white or wheat spaghetti. NO other pasta. Then for sauces, there is a choice of three. Marinara, alfredo and one other. The entire process is not well explaind by the impatient staff. For instance, there is a small selection of fresh veggies, can one request that they be added and cooked into the pasta? Said small selection is not adequate enough to develop a decent salad. (no tomatoes, only brushcetta, hot peppers, but no raw broccoli or bell peppers.) I got the white spaghetti with some kind of breaded chicken, it wasn't explained to me what it was, no description listed on the menu. I added alfredo sauce. The alfredo sauce tasted EXACTLY like Classico brand Alfredo Sauce With Mushrooms (in a jar.) I hate this sauce and recognized the similar taste immediately. The staff was brusque, unfriendly, unhelpful and inefficient. It should be noted that when not busy with customers, the staff stares at patrons consuming their meals. Make no mistake, not glances, they stare. Each time I looked up, the staff was staring at us. Collectively. They are running a Groupon promotion, they are not even worth it with the Groupon. Would never return, not even with Groupon.

What a fantastic bang for the buck!!! But most of all delicious fresh good for ya food. The manger gets 6 stars out of 5 for being an enthusiastic young professional - 2 thumbs up - gotta try it - best franchise I have EVER been to

I really wanted to like this restaurant because it has such a unique concept and I am Italian, so I love this kind of food - but I left unimpressed. The restaurant is in a good area and the space is a decent size - something like you'd expect from a Chipolte or Noodles and Company. You have choices to make - do you want a wrap, bowl or a salad. The next choice is to choose what kind of protein you want, then sauce and then finally toppings. The person behind the counter puts all of this together for you and just like that you have a meal. It sounds great, but the food itself didn't impress me much. I might be too much of an Italian food snob for this place. I have high standards and I don't typically like a "Olive Garden Style" Italian which is what I get from Italio. I tried a bowl of pasta with traditional spaghetti noodles, chicken and basil pomodoro sauce. It was okay, but if I ever found myself eating here again I would probably go with a salad. I also tried the calamari and the Italio stick. The calamari was good, but the Italio stick was pretty salty. The other thing I noticed was that there were a lot of protein choices but not very many sauce choices and no choice of noodles if you are getting pasta. More choices might make this a better meal. Overall, the verdict was that the food was just okay and the price was way too much for me to ever come back.

Of all the restaurants I've had the privilege to try lately, this is bar none my favorite. I love Italian food, but I don't love Italian restaurants. They seem very fussy to me with their aged oils, dry bread and family recipe sauces. That's all fine and good, but I like to be able to pick and choose what I want in my meal. Enter Italio, with their fast-serve experience you can pick and choose anything you like on your pasta dish, salad, or piadina. The people behind the counter who put your meal together are always friendly and knowledgable about what they offer, and I love that I can get in and get out super fast. No waiting around til Grandma's sauce is perfect. The pasta is fresh and isn't congealed and gooey, and nothing is cold and has to be reheated like that gross crap you get at Sbarro. There are hot toppings and cold toppings and you can choose whatever you like. I usually get pasta with chicken fritte, bruschetta, eggplant, onions, peppers andyoudon'treallycareaboutthis do you? The point is you can GET what YOU WANT! It's awesome! It's fast. It's fresh and I'm going to go back whenever I feel like Italian that I don't have to cook myself. Thank you for coming to Orland, and I can't wait til there are more locations around Chicagoland.
(5)Mike D.
Some of you folks raving about this place: Really? It's... eh... just ok. Honestly it's grossly overpriced for what you get. I had a shrimp piadina with a cup of Italian Wedding soup - I paid over $14.00. There are authentic Italian places in the SW suburban area where you could get much better homemade Italian food for $14.00. In fact, head to Capri Deli in Palos (Note: I have no affiliation with them) if you're looking for unreal homemade Italian food for lunch at very moderate prices. The food itself was just... OK. If you're thinking walking into this place your'e getting very good Italian food you're very much mistaken.

I'm sorry I wanted to like you Italio. You get 2 stars from me because the employees are nice. However the food is waste of me. money. If we didn't get a living social coupon I don't think we would've been happy to spend money at this place. First you get in their you're thinking " Chipotle" Italian style but it's nothing like a Chipotle because their food is actually good. I don't get how you can order a bowl of Italian noodles and most of the vegetables you get with your order is raw like the mushrooms, onions and other vegetables. I feel it's not different from ordering a cold salad. I get how it is a healthier choice to eat at verses I guess fast food chain but it's still a chain that needs to be better. We sat down to eat the food and the place is FREEZING!. Why do they keep like 20 below in there? I hate a place that is freezing their customers or heating their customers this place was so cold I wanted to go outside to warm up. The worse part of this was the food my steak pieces in the pasta bowl was charred and so the meat was bitter tasting. The pasta noodles were fine the sauce is even okay but the bitterness from the meat made my mouth unhappy and my tummy left hungry because I didn't want to finish my meal. Enough Said head to Olive Garden next door the food would've been what you've excepted good not great but they would've have charred the meat and freeze their dining in customers.

It was my first time here and it was so weird. A friend took me out here to eat and I did enjoy it but it was still weird. Its like chipotle for pasta. Like for real. you go in and pick your pasta and then choose your topping and cheeses and that's it. It was ok, I don't think this a place where I would go to a lot, nothing about it wowed me.
(3)Meggan P.
Only reason why it is not 5 is because they don't have bread to go with the pasta but other than that the food is good! And the chocolate chip cookies are the bomb! 1st time going I will definitely be going back
(4)Michael S.
Wow! Italio was so busy for their grand opening, BUT they handled the crowd like champs! Food was really good. Had the shrimp salad and it was delicious. My fiancée went for a special preview before their grand opening and loved everything there as well. Prices are fair as I think of them as a premium Italian place with a model like Chipotles. I think I'll definitely be back and put this place in my post workout meal rotation amongst Naf Naf. A much deserved 4 star especially with handling the crowds grand opening day and everyone around me loving the food and experience.
(4)Julie O.
Husband "Where are we going for dinner?" Me "Italio" Husband "What is that?" Me "Italian Chipotle" So the line moved really well and we got good parking (it was crazy cold out). It really is like Italian chipotle. You go to the counter, opt for a pasta bowl, salad or wrap. I went with a pasta bowl of multi grain pasta, chicken, basil pesto and some toppings like chick peas, cheese, carrots and onions. Flavors were good. Portions were generous. They have limited alcohol options. Probably about $22.00 for two, so not bad.

We had been meaning to try the new Italio since it had opened and finally got some coupons for it. I scoped out the online menu before heading in blind so I wasn't totally confused going in. Yes, it is a chipotle-style assembly line with a variety of different Italian options. Each of us got something a little different, but I had a piadina/wrap. I loaded it up with just about everything I saw that I knew I liked. It turned out to be an interesting combination, but I did have some qualms with it. I like the chipotle-style assembly line, but I wish there were labels (maybe even brief descriptions) of the condiments/sauces. With this information I probably could have loaded up my piadina with a lot more stuff, making it a bit more filling, which brings me to my next point. The price/portion ratio. To me, it was expensive for what it was. Maybe if I had gotten a bulging wrap with every condiment it might have been close to better, but I felt that the amount of each topping was very conservative, at best. Yes, you can probably pay for double meat, but then your ~$7.50-$8 item becomes over $10. Everything tasted pretty good, it was definitely a very unique wrap, and I haven't quite had anything like it. However, my one gripe would have to be about the meat quality. I can only speak for the steak, which I found was pretty chewy and upon closer examination, a bit fatty as well. It didn't completely ruin the meal for me, but at that price and small portion, I really want to see a quality, lean piece of meat at the very least. I could also barely taste the arugula (which has a very distinct bitter taste). I really want to like Italio. I think the Chipotle concept is a tried-and-true science, and infusing another style of cuisine with that is even better. I would probably be a regular if they upped the portion size, and made some adjustments to the meat quality. Until then, I can only give 3 stars for the uniqueness, service and concept.

Dear founders of Italio, PLEASE build one of these in the Oakbrook Terrace area (60181) -- even more specifically, right near the mall and I promise you I will come at least 2-3 times per week on my lunch break. Now that my plea is complete, let me move on to my review. I was blessed to be able to try Italio before they opened at the Yelp Elite event. At the event, I ordered the meatball wrap and thought it was decent. It was only okay for me because I have braces and couldn't chew through it without making an utter mess. This is my fault, not theirs. My second time I switched it up 360 and went with the crispy chicken salad. Holy cow batman. If you like salads, you HAVE to try this one. It's hard to find a BIG SALAD (i'm just dropping tons of Seinfeld references in my reviews today) with lots of fresh ingredients. I was amazed at how many toppings they have, all of which complement the salad very well. I went with mushrooms, peppers, onions, spinach, tomatoes, olives, parmesan cheese and caesar dressing. I like that their caesar is very light (i think it may be oil based?) but very flavorful. The crunchy chicken is what chicken sandwiches at fast food should taste like. I think next time I will splurge and get extra chicken because I just kept wanting more and more of it in my mouth. I also went with the pesto breadstick and a blood orange Pellegrino. Their breadsticks are probably one of my favorite parts and really worth the money at $2. They are big enough to split between two people. The Pellegrino is almost $3 but definitely worth the splurge once in awhile. I think that Italio is one of those places that it takes a few tries to figure out what works for you, but once you find the sweet spot, it's definitely worthy of 5 stars. I can't wait to come back!
(5)Crystal S.
I initially went to italio because I saw a groupon and it intrigued me. I then went to the website to see what it was all about and decided to get the groupon. My husband and I went in and yes, it's comparable to the chipotle made-to-order idea. Since the first visit we have been in at least 3 more times. I love the idea of picking my whole concoction from the type of meal to every ingredient that goes inside. I have yet to taste anything I don't like. The cannoli chips with cream sauce are so good! The also serve a small amount of alcohol. There is a lot of seating inside but parking can be tricky with Jamba Juice and various other businesses nearby. Downside: this is the only location outside of Florida pretty much!
(5)Angela P.
Italio, Round 2! After really enjoying myself at the Elite event, I decided to come back with my husband to cash in our "free entree" cards. I didn't feel like cooking dinner, and a proper meal out wasn't in the budget. Italio, to the rescue! This time I opted for a pasta bowl with shrimp, Alfredo sauce, arugula, roasted red peppers, and shaved Parmesan cheese. The shrimp was plump, fresh, and cooked well. I was pretty impressed by the quality of shrimp considering it sits in a bucket Chipotle-style until served. The sauce was really bland and didn't taste like anything. It reminded me of the Ragu Alfredo sauce in the jar. The employees here all looked really overwhelmed. The restaurant was less than half full, but I could see the exhaustion in their eyes. When I asked the employee for a Pesto Italio Stick, I was disappointed when I sat down to eat my meal and it was plain cheese. When I asked the next employee for arugula, she first reached for a bottle of salad dressing. I again nicely asked for arugula, thinking maybe she heard me wrong. Clearly, she had no idea what arugula was because she almost put spinach in my bowl instead. Then when I asked for roasted red peppers, she again looked defeated. I felt bad for her because she apologized and looked really embarassed. It happened again when my husband asked for bruschetta. She reached for the arugula that time. I overheard a manager tell her, "it's okay, you're doing fine," and it was nice to see that she was being treated kindly when she was obviously very discouraged. However, these kids could use some extra training. It doesn't seem fair to put someone on the food line that isn't familiar with all of the ingredients yet. Better yet, why not label the ingredients? This would be easier for the employee and customer. I thought we were out of the woods, but the cashier also seemed overwhelmed. First she forgot my drink. Then, she grabbed a drink and was a split second away from opening the wrong drink. Then she rolled her eyes when I corrected her and asked for the drink I ordered. She was far less apologetic than the employee on the food line. I think the cashier was ready to go home and take a nap. I wasn't wowed this time around with Italio. My food was great, considering I didn't pay for all of it. Even if they opened a location closer to home, I don't know if I'd come back here for something I can make at home. I think making a meal here takes a few tries to get it right to figure out what you like.
(3)Emily K.
I love this place! Whenever I come back in town from school I make sure to always stop here. The wraps here are excellent and I think the service is great, even when it's busy. Although they are owned by the same company as Chipolte, I would say the food here is definitely better quality than the fake mexican food.
(4)maggie m.
I went opening day, not the best Italian food I have had, but it's fast casual so what can you really expect. Good concept, just wish it was more tasty. It's nice that they serve alcohol & for opening day the employees were all very friendly & the line went by quick but it all boils down to the food, which wasn't very impressive. I most likely won't be back.
(2)Oliver M.
Fast food Italian. No other way to put it. You get in line, order pasta, sauce and toppings and off you go. I like it because I don't know another Italian place that is not a sit down. Food is descent and cheap. Good place to fill the belly. They also serve beer if you need one.
(3)Ashley M.
I really wanted to like this place because of the concept. An Italian Chipotle? How could it get any better than that?! I totally understand this place is new and I didn't expect it to be perfect. However, it didn't really have to do with the staff or the experience, it's just what this place lacks as a whole. Yes, you can choose what you want but the noodle and sauce choices are extremely limited. The protein/meat portion sizes are small for the price, and the staff seemed overwhelmed since they were all obviously very new at this. I had the whole grain pasta bowl with alfredo and shrimp, plus a side of calamari. The shrimp was okay. The sauce was fine. The calamari was chewy. There were deep fried jalapenos(why?) and tomatoes mixed in as a filler... strange. My boyfriend had the whole grain pasta bowl with the spicy prima rosa sauce and chicken fritte. They skimped out on the chicken big time. A few diced/crumbled breaded-chicken pieces? Really? One major thing we noticed was the lack of add-ins for pasta. It'd be nice to add sauteed mushrooms, cooked spinach or anything else to make the pastas more hearty. They didn't have anything besides raw salad toppings and grated cheeses. I had to add RAW mushrooms to my alfredo just to give it some more substance besides just shrimp floating on top of pasta and sauce. I can see the "business customer service" person on here only cares about the positive 4-5 Star reviews and doesn't comment on any of the low ones suggesting that they'll make any improvements or take any of these comments into consideration. That's fine and all, but I guess it's safe to say this place will continue to stay bland. We won't be going back. If you want a similar style meal that's 100x better at the same price, I would recommend Noodles & Company down the street over this. They don't even have a "build-your-own" pasta model and they have more combinations, sauces, and noodles to choose from. They also give you real protein portions, such as an actual, full chicken breast so the price is justifiable (no, I don't work for Noodles & Company). Unfortunately, I don't think this business will last (especially at that doomed ex-Cosi location), but I wish them the best of luck.
(2)Shelly M.
I recently tried Italio for the first time. It is a similar concept to Chipotle, but Italian. My boyfriend and I both tried the pasta bowl. My pasta bowl included the chicken fritte with the spicy prima rosa sauce. My boyfriend's bowl included the steak, shrimp, and Alfredo sauce. We both added in as many veggies to our bowls. The ingredients were fresh. The portion size was more than enough. My boyfriend finished his pasta bowl, but I had leftovers! We both were satisfied with the pasta bowls that we ordered. The Staff were friendly and informative. I like the fast service! Will def. be going back for me!
(4)Dawn G.
Not that many choices, kinda bland, and really pricy for what you get. It's kinda like a fast food for pasta place. This is the second time I've been her and I'm still not impressed. The only reason I went back because the people I was with had never been there and wanted to try it. It isn't HORRIBLE... just not my thing.
(3)Sinan A.
Great idea. Sort of like a chipotle for Italian food. Only problem is it's pricey. And the flavor is lacking. I wish their sauces had more bite to them. If your looking quick pasta that you can customize this is for you. Definitely try the calamari which is probably the best thing on their menu.
(3)Patty S.
I went here because I wanted to try something new and I found a LivingSocial deal for this place. I am so glad I tried it! The food was delicious and the staff was very helpful! It's a nice quick and casual place. I like that the price for a pasta bowl, salad, or wrap is the same based on the protein you choose. I had the chicken fritte salad, which was delicious, and my mom had Italian sausage on pasta with a red basil sauce. she had enough leftover for lunch the next day! They definitely do not skimp on the portions! We also shared an Italio cheese stick, which was decent and a nice compliment to our dinners. I will definitely be back!
(4)Jill B.
Consist excellent food and over the top customer service!
(5)Glenn N.
As a very frequent visitor of Chipolte, I was thrilled that a similar concept was being offered for Italian food in Orland Park. I really wanted to like this place, so much so that I've visited six times now. I doubt that I'll be coming back. I've usually ordered a pasta bowl. Unlike the promotional pictures that I've seen that are practically overflowing (like my Chipotle bowl), my Italio pasta bowl is just over half full. The spoonful of chicken that's added is very minimal. Then, I am always confused about which toppings will go with my pasta and marina...most seem more suitable for a cold salad. So, I end up adding some black olives and move on. The interior of the restaurant is modern and clean, and the employees are friendly. Yet, I always walk away feeling like it's just not enough food and pricier than it should be. I'm fairly certain that the restaurant will close in less than a year.
(2)Ken B.
I've been here twice now and I don't feel like it's anything special. The idea is good but the food is just so-so. Last time I visited I bought a pasta bowl and it was plenty of noodles but they skimped on the chicken and sauce. So I ended up having a big bowl of pasta leftover that was just bland. For the same price I would rather go over to Noodles & Company across the street. Their food is much more flavorful and they don't skimp on the meat.
(3)K M.
It was OK. Had one of the menu salads . I was told I could add items or customize at the next station but she had it wrapped up before I got there. They should make sure the customer is done before completing, especially since I was ordering a lot. And no nutritional information?!??! Hard when you are watching even if you are just getting salad.

The food here is Not bad. I say not bad because it's not something I go out of my way to get either. It's italian burritos which are fantastic on the go as they are very filling, have good flavor, and aren't messy. The price point is what really kills this for me. Without coupons or specials, it just seems a little high priced. That seems to be the way of most fast-casual places though. I have gone back about 10 times now due to different coupons and offerrings and each time I've never been displeased with the food. It's never been "WOW THIS IS SO GOOD" either. I will note, however, that Italio is a great thing to order on a Sunday evening to put in the fridge for lunch at work on Monday.

Loved it! We got 2 of the combinations with soup/salad and pasta. The salad with lemon herb dressing was so good (aded feta, peppers and croutons) and the pasta with tons of add ins was excellent -with the spicy sauce. I also tasted my son's alfredo, which was pretty yummy. I was told the tomato basil soup was excellent and the prices were very good.

I was not very impressed with this restaurant. I really wanted shrimp scampi and they didn't have it!! It is a nice concept of a Italian Chipotle, like one of the other reviewers stated, but it lacks menu options. I also did not like the contemporary style of the restaurant. The chairs were so uncomfortable. There were no booths, just a couple of two seat tables around the outside of the space facing the windows and three big rectangular tables in the middle of the space. Not too private for smaller groups of people like 2-4, but good for groups of 10-15 so you can all sit at one table if you are in a large group. I would never go back again!!!

Its fast Italian food that's not bad for less than ten bucks. You will be full, and depending on your choices healthy. Again its not fine dining but better than, a Subway, McDonald's type of place. I would actually put it higher than Olive Garden at half the price..
(4)chris g.
Good salads quick. They serve up a generous portion & made to your liking. The process takes less than 5 min. & your off to eat a fresh salad. What's not to like?. They have some good bread sticks too.
(4)Caiden M.
Italio stopped in at the UFC gym I belong to and wowed everyone. The prepare a chicken Brusheta salad right in front of all the members. Everyone was so excited
(5)Mallory F.
I liked this place because the ingredients taste really fresh and the food is healthy depending on how you ask them to prepare it. I love going out to eat, having a good meal, and not having to feel guilty about it afterwards. Also, I like how they give you the option to build your own pasta bowls and pittas because it allows for so many different options and combinations.
(4)James B.
Tried this place twice. The food tastes ok. I would like a few different pasta choices. They have two: Spaghetti and whole grain spaghetti. Won't be returning.
(2)Mike D.
Delicious food. Love the wheat pasta bowls. Steak was always really high quality. Lots of toppings and they have Honest Tea with free refills, which is great.

If you are looking fine Italian dining well than maybe you have come to the wrong place. If you are looking for something fast, relatively inexpensive but yet pretty darn tasty and will fil you upwell then you have come to the right place my friend. The guy who greeted us really didn't want to hear our questions and just wanted us to order and move on, but everyone else was very friendly and helpful as we were first time customers. We have been sold on this Chipotle-esque style, quick service Italian restaurant and we will be back.
(4)Gayla T.
My 4th visit today. For the 2nd time we were out of regular pasta. People friendly and helpful. Took my grand daughter with today and she ordered the regular chicken size pasta bowl, with only red sauce(same price as my bowl with 8 options????? Her's should be cheaper, OK. Drink cup lids are pathetic. Lady in front of me had hers pull off and her drink hit the floor. Cold, hard seating, not condusive to staying any length of time. How about a senior discount! Eating out is one of the few enjoyments we can afford, after we pay for our medicines. Thanks for the chance to vent.

I wish there was an option for 3.5 stars because this place is more than a 3 but not quite a 4. First off let's judge this for what it is. Fast Italian food for the masses. Much healthier than the typical mall food, but certainly not 4 or 5 star dining. I like the fact it's simple, streamlined choices and not trying to be something it's not like Olive Garden. They even have a few innovative items on the menu like risotto balls and cannoli chips. The risotto balls are DELISH. Way way better than a plain fried cheese stick. I was told by the manager they are made fresh here everyday. In fact he informed me they make everything onsite but the cheeses. (Obviously) so I guess I don't get the complaining about food quality. I had soup both times I was there and found it hot, fresh tasting and quite good. My boyfriend had one of the pasta dishes and was quite satisfied with his pasta bowl. For a lunch under $10 I think this place is a gem. It's clean, good, fast with friendly staff. What else do you need for lunch?
(4)Jeff T.
Really enjoyed the fast Italian concept a la Chipotle. Had traditional pasta with steak, mushrooms, zuchinni, roasted red peppers and some alfredo sauce. It was really flavorful and tasty. Sure it's not the creamiest alfredo I've ever had but for a quick meal it was awesome. Looking forward to going back soon, and hopefully we'll see some more locations opening up in Chicagoland soon.
(4)Amanda B.
If I could give this place no stars, I would. It's disgusting. I ordered a salad and decided to do chicken and shrimp. It's actually making me gag just thinking about it. The meat was disgusting. I had caesar dressing and it was pretty bad. My sister was with me and tried my salad and agreed that it was horrible. I don't know if the meat and dressing had gone bad, but I ended up just throwing it away. Plus, I paid $11 for a small salad and soft drink. There was nothing special about this place. And you couldn't pay me to return.
(1)Megan L.
Going on opening day & Italio offering one free entree per customer, I knew the line would be long and the place crowded. However, the staff handled it great! The line went smoothly and quickly for how many people were there. The staff was awesome with answering questions and very friendly. I think the prices are fair and they have a great layout. Having only three options for entree: an italian wrap, pasta bowl, or salad, and a variety of sauces and toppings, I think it might take a couple of tries to get the right combination. Food was great and service was excellent!
(4)Jim N.
Went today for lunch, great friendly service I got the pasta bowl great taste with the marinated shrimp. Daughter got the bowl with fritte chicken and Alfredo, great tasting until the the end when she found a black curly hair at the bottom of her bowl. Obviously that turned her stomach after eating 90 percent. Wish that didn't happen because the food tasted great. We will consider coming back in the future, but sometimes something like that is hard to look past. The manager apologized but that was it. Seemed to busy answering the phone and working cash register. There was 11 people on staff including 3 managers, but that person just brushed it off. Most would have refunded meal. Would have given 5 stars but now only 2. Maybe if there is a next time get the 5,
(2)don g.
My prediction...Out of business in a year.....food is bland, basic and expensive...they really to change their game plan and the real thing is that if they offered some quality sauces, they would have a fighting chance!...Sad...they could fix easily..I will go back in 3 months and final try
(1)Mokena R.
Great concept and good food. When they first opened for business, they seemed overwhelmed. They all seem to really know what they're doing now. My entire family enjoys the food and love the fact that they can select their toppings. Someone who I assume is a manager always walks around the dining room to make sure everyone is doing fine.
(5)Kathryn B.
I came here on a living social deal with my husband. The food was really good and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I did find it odd to put my salad in the same bowl as my entree, but aside from that I can't really say anything bad about this place.
(4)Buttermilk P.
My wife and I really enjoyed Italio. It is a Subway-styled twist on good pasta. You have three dining options, a pasta bowl, a wrap or a salad. We opted for the pasta bowls. You also have your choice of traditional or whole-grain pasta, various types of meats (or you can go veggie), three different sauces and a wide array of added toppings. The pasta bowls were a nice size. I have a hearty appetite and only made it through 1/4 of mine; my baby was the same way. We also purchased their Italio breadsticks which are really a bread wrap stuffed with either: just cheese, or meat if you like, and come with a red dipping sauce. They also were very nicely sized. We look forward to visiting Italio again. The only downside was that their only location is in Orland Park. It just so happened that I was in Orland on business, but it would be nice if they opened a location on the south side.
(4)Rocky G.
The only difference since our last visit is that this time we met one of their managers, Louis, he is all over the place from making up dinners to making sure his customers were happy. It's nice to see someone who really cares, I guess that's one of the many reason why we love Italio, oh yes and the food is fantastic
(5)Kevin G.
This place is absolutely disgusting and a complete rip off. I love eating out and have no problem paying good money for good food, but this travesty does not offer that. To start they do not even know how to cook pasta. Both times I have eaten here it is tasteless and all stuck together. They clearly do not use salt in their water and do not bother to treat the pasta properly once it is cooked. Second, what you are served looks absolutely nothing like what they picture. A full sized meal shows meatballs all over in the picture. When you get it they literally chop one medium sized meatball in half and throw it on top. I made the mistake of trying shrimp the second time I ate here and they were extremely rubbery and tasteless. Tasteless pretty much sums up this entire restaurant. Side note: on one of my two visits we had a Groupon, which they took and then charged me full tax on the meals in cash, which is a direct violation of Groupon's rules and solely a way for them to make more money off of the deal. This policy of theirs is not only against the rules, but its is inherently dishonest. I will not shed a tear when this waste of space goes under.
(1)Chris L.
I'm a fan of Italio. I was here for the Yelp event before they officially launched and I was impressed then, and when I went back for a second time, i was impressed again. The food is very good for how quickly you get it. The "Chipotle" style assembly line of putting your dish together works really well and doesn't compromise on quality much at all. I haven't tried anything here that I have not enjoyed yet. This place is unique in that you don't find many quick places to get Italian food. And by quick I mean once you hit the counter, your dish is in your hand in about a minute. The portions sizes are big and the impact on the wallet is relatively small. Definitely do not hesitate to give it a try if your nearby
(4)Mike R.
My wife really wanted to try Italio and we finally had the opportunity to get there. I was a bit confused at first but the staff were helpful. I ordered the pasta bowl with Alfredo. The pasta was oily and the Alfredo was nothing special. I was not impressed and for the price I am highly doubtful I would return.
(2)Don M.
I do not know why it took me so long to come here. My loss for sure. This is some seriously good food. Walking in the place is nice just seems inviting. Easy to navigate to the counter for ordering. Plenty of seating. As for the food, I ordered the shrimp, nice serving. Added in lettuce, onion, yellow peppers, olives and topped with italian dressing. This was so good. Very fresh and each bite as good as the last. Under 10 bucks and a good meal. This is a must stop when around.
(5)Greg D.
I took the entire clan here for dinner on Monday. Meh. I had the grilled chicken salad and the italian wedding soup. Both were ok. Kids all had pasta with meatballs. They were ok. Wife had grilled chicken salad and tomato basil soup. We also got a couple cheese sticks to share. Again---ok. Maybe I expected too much. Italio was very clean and service was super friendly. I thought prices were good for what you get. It was just ok.

Chipotle inspired assembly line, down to the tee. Got the spaghetti half cold probably sat out too long. Rest of the plate can't remember much, cause we were discussing why my friends Italian burrito creation costed $7.50 and half the size compared to chipotle. His Italian burrito taste was all about sauce, they are generous with the sauce. And that's all he remembers, the sauce. Not what was in the "burrito". Walked out the store, both dazed and confused as to what we just ate? A Chipotle with a higher price cause it's in a store called italio. Italian food generally costs more than Mexican good ? Or we failed to notice a street food hip factor that's reflected in the obligatory price that's . We don't remember what we ate, maybe due to the Chipotle-esque decor and production line, that had us wondering if they belong to McDonald as well, just like chipotle. I wish them success with their venture into Chipotles turf, along with a fancier menu and price. Oh forgot about the food review. But really nothing to report as we pretty much forgot what we ate except for that 7,50 half size burrito.
(2)Mozart G.
My family and I were craving a new spot so we went with Italio. NIce newer buildout with a nice concept. Ordered one alfredo and one regular tomato sauce. U have a lot of different options as far as what u can top your pasta with like different cheeses and vegetables. Their meat choices did not look good at all, so we just stuck with meatless sauces. Overall it was an ordinary experience , Nothing to brag about. Will definitely just stick to our norm for italain.
(3)mary d.
Fast and tasty and fresh Italian food. I got a pasta bowl, which had lots of meat, sauce and veggie options. Portion size was filling. Also tried their bread which was also very good. We will be back!!
(4)Jamie T.
This restaurant is the Italian style Chipotle. I really enjoyed my meal and the gigantic "serving" of wine. All in all, I would definitely come back and I made the trip from Naperville. The prices are a little on the high side for the type of restaurant it is, but I am excited for them to open a location closer to my house.
(4)Marie S.
My daughter and I stopped at Italio for lunch. We tried the pasta bowls. The food was very tasty, fresh, and the portions were filling. The restaurant was clean and the service was friendly. I recommend Italio for a fast, fresh, and delicious meal.
(4)Michele K.
I love their steak wraps. Everything is super fresh and healthy. I have been to Italio 5 times and it is consistently tasty no matter what combo I try. It is not cheap but then again neither is Chipolte. Healthy and fresh always costs a little bit more but it's worth it!!! Look for their coupons in the newspaper that can help lessen the cost for you.
(5)Amal H.
I don't want to waste your precious time reading my entry on this god awful restaurant but long story short this place should have a sign out front that says beware, if you have taste buds, do not come in. I wasn't even satisfied with the water , do they soak their spaghetti in the water?
(1)Julie W.
like other reviewers posted....cool concept of building your own dish so everyone in the family is happy. but for 2 salads and a kids meal = $20+....it was OK. I think I would go back for a lunch salad. the inside is clean and cool design.
(4)Denise H.
Another Chipotle style restaurant. Clean, wheel chair accessible. Friendly helpful staff. The food is fast good Italian. Pasta or salad or pizza dough roll wrap. Side salad available. I love this concept because I love pasta... And being able to see what I want on it and the actual quality. I need a Fix now and then but don't feel like a sit down shmancy deal. This is perfect. You choose pasta.. Sauce.. Mix ins. And meat. Before I forget..: WARNING: THE SPICY PACKS HEAT. SERIOUSLY HOT. OK. So pasta with red sauce & chicken. Added basil pesto... Bruschetta , spinach and bread with basil. I ordered side of eggplant pesto for my bread and a side salad. Date had wheat pasta with sausage and spicy sauce and cheese bread. He loves spicy... It was toooooo spicy for the wasabi king.. Our first thought.. Big bowls not so much food. Uhmm nope. We had take away so they did well with portion.. deceiving as it was. Bread is pizza dough with stuff rolled inside. It was good. Crispy and soft. Again.. We ordered tapenade to go on it. It is served with red sauce. Pasta isn't greasy.. Most places coat it in oil so it won't stick. This was not greasy. Sauce has a slightly sweet flavor and a good consistency. I have to say... Grandma ordered pasta shrimp Alfredo. It looked Delish.. She said it was.. Thing is.. All 3 of us had felt there wasn't enough sauce on pasta. We each had different sauce. I also felt they didn't hit it on the meat. My chicken.. Although a strange choice for spaghetti.. Was diced so small it was lost in the bowl. It was overwhelmed by pasta .. Therefore tasteless. His sausage was all of 4 slices. Again for a person who loves spicy food... He said it was spicy as well... Not a plus. Gmas shrimp was also lost in her dish. It looked so good.. She said it was NOT over cooked or rubbery. Here lies the big problem... By the time ( they are pretty fast mind you) you order.. Date orders.. Pay.. Silverware.. Sit. The food is ice cold. They have room temp pasta. Warm.. Not hot warm sauce. Cold mix ins .. Everything was room temp at best. Even upon going back for more sauce... Just warm. Not so good. I ordered a side salad.. Lettuce 2 types & some spinach. Olives. Bruschetta. Cheese. Dash of basil pesto & Caesar dressing. It was Delish. Again appeared small but with the meal was perfect size. I had soda and him a beer. Yes they have a few beers. Reviews say they have wine. They did not. I am happy with the visit. It seemed pricy, for lunch. $27. +change for 2.. But breaking it down... Beer ,pop ,salad ,2 side of eggplant tapenade ,2 bread sticks, and 2 bowls of pasta with meat. Now the price isn't so bad.. Not at all. This is an absolutely have to give it a go. Kid friendly.. Especially since nothing is served hot... Lol. Causal attire. Handicapped parking and accessable . We went at 4pm on a Tuesday. Left at 5 pm. By that time there where 6 employees behind the counter. Seems they get busy for dinner.

First time there. The food was decent - not bad. But honestly i have had better Italian. this is fast casual 100%. What bothered me was this is a new store -no one has a CLUE what to do or how to order they need to have a GREETER. People were just yelling what do you want here, how do you want this ? and i just felt overwhelmed. then they have these really good bread stick things and they aren't on the menu - but they had them cooking and they really didn't explain them. We ordered one but the girl got mad at us cause she thought we wanted two. That is the best value on the menu. For 2 people to eat with ONE Drink and BOGO coupon it was $14. I could eat a lot better food for that price. The sauce tastes like it came out of a jar. To me and my husband nothing special. I think this place would be better downtown where people want fast lunches and move at a fast pace. There is no nutrition information anywhere either - total kill for us as well. This place is really geared towards TWEENS or young adults. take a pass.
(2)Marie Z.
I happened to get a coupon in the mail for a free entree and to my surprise I went there on opening day without knowing it and the line was unbelievable considering how cold it was outside. The staff did a good job of putting those in line at ease by offering menus and answering questions regarding the choices on the menu. They let you build a pasta bowl, an italian wrap sandwich or a salad with a great variety of meats and toppings. We had the steak pasta bowl and the meatball pasta bowl with their spicy prima rose sauce. They were really good and the portions are enough for two. Our favorite was the pepperoni bread stick yummy!!! The only complaint I have about this place is that they don't offer gluten free options such as pasta for those who have gluten sensitivities or celiac. I hope they will look into this in the near future so that everyone can enjoy this yummy new find in Orland.
(4)Steven M.
(5)Jeff T.
What a fantastic bang for the buck!!! But most of all delicious fresh good for ya food. The manger gets 6 stars out of 5 for being an enthusiastic young professional - 2 thumbs up - gotta try it - best franchise I have EVER been to
(5)Marq C.
(5)George C.
(3)Jenni E.

(2)Jaci Y.

(5)Michael S.
(4)Jaci Y.

(1)Joe D.
Its fast Italian food that's not bad for less than ten bucks. You will be full, and depending on your choices healthy. Again its not fine dining but better than, a Subway, McDonald's type of place. I would actually put it higher than Olive Garden at half the price..

What a fantastic bang for the buck!!! But most of all delicious fresh good for ya food. The manger gets 6 stars out of 5 for being an enthusiastic young professional - 2 thumbs up - gotta try it - best franchise I have EVER been to

(5)chris g.
(5)Dave S.
(2)Tamara M.
1st time going I will definitely be going back
(4)Alex C.

(1)Emily K.
I love this place! Whenever I come back in town from school I make sure to always stop here. The wraps here are excellent and I think the service is great, even when it's busy. Although they are owned by the same company as Chipolte, I would say the food here is definitely better quality than the fake mexican food.
(4)Kevin G.

(3)maggie m.

Fast food Italian. No other way to put it. You get in line, order pasta, sauce and toppings and off you go. I like it because I don't know another Italian place that is not a sit down. Food is descent and cheap. Good place to fill the belly. They also serve beer if you need one.

(4)Jennifer G.

My prediction...Out of business in a year.....food is bland, basic and expensive...they really to change their game plan and the real thing is that if they offered some quality sauces, they would have a fighting chance!...Sad...they could fix easily..I will go back in 3 months and final try

(5)Julie W.
like other reviewers posted....cool concept of building your own dish so everyone in the family is happy. but for 2 salads and a kids meal = $20+....it was OK. I think I would go back for a lunch salad. the inside is clean and cool design.
(4)Amal H.
I don't want to waste your precious time reading my entry on this god awful restaurant but long story short this place should have a sign out front that says beware, if you have taste buds, do not come in. I wasn't even satisfied with the water , do they soak their spaghetti in the water?
(5)A J.

1st time going I will definitely be going back
(4)Crystal S.

(1)Emily K.
I love this place! Whenever I come back in town from school I make sure to always stop here. The wraps here are excellent and I think the service is great, even when it's busy. Although they are owned by the same company as Chipolte, I would say the food here is definitely better quality than the fake mexican food.

(3)maggie m.

Great idea. Sort of like a chipotle for Italian food. Only problem is it's pricey. And the flavor is lacking. I wish their sauces had more bite to them. If your looking quick pasta that you can customize this is for you. Definitely try the calamari which is probably the best thing on their menu.
